I DECLARE YOU INSANE

Immortalis is an absurd love letter to horror, dark romance, eldritch terror, steampunk and gothic grimdark.
Allyra is the final Immoless of the century. Think monster slayer with a sex addiction, a slight issue with alcohol, torture, and a habit of earmarking members of her own family for contractual sacrifice. Crafty enough to exploit the ludicrous bureaucracy of Irkalla, Hell itself, she forces the Immortalis, the very monsters destined to destroy her, into protecting her while she attempts to level the playing field and override her own destruction.
Unfortunately, the contract comes with terms.
Throughout her entire quest Allyra must reside at Corax Asylum under the protection of Nicolas.
This excites Nicolas enormously.
It excites the Nicolai even more.
The Nicolai are Nicolas. Two hundred and fifteen fractured versions of the same monster, each an aspect of one shared consciousness. Nicolas is the Vero, the principal self around whom the others fracture. Collectively they are manipulative, possessive, competitive and catastrophically lonely. Having the Immoless contractually obliged to live under their roof is, to them, the greatest administrative achievement in recorded history.
In a strange turn of events Allyra does not develop a relationship with the brooding, handsome and regal anti-hero, Theaten.
Oh no.
She gets stuck with his nasty, filthy, spoiled and sadistic younger brother instead.
Nicolas runs Corax Asylum, where tributes are acquired, compulsory mortal sacrifices bred for feeding and sexual gratification. Unfortunately, Nicolas has never experienced a meaningful interaction with a woman that did not involve coercion. Those few women he has attempted to court rejected him and subsequently suffered bizarre, entirely unrelated accidents. Some taxidermied themselves. Others somehow fell onto a rake beneath a possessed levitating cow.
Shit happens.
Nicolas refuses to accept responsibility.
His only friends are his own fractured selves, his weary butler Chives, and his psychotic brother, Kane, Theaten’s Evro. Consequently, his grasp of hygiene, manners, personal space and acceptable social behaviour is almost entirely theoretical. His sadism and temper, however, are second to none.
To Nicolas, every conversation with Allyra is proof that she is utterly besotted with him.
Things become considerably worse when Allyra discovers that her boyfriend of five years, Chester, is also one of the Nicolai. More than that, Chester is the most important of them all. While Nicolas is the Vero, the principal self, Chester is his Evro, his primal self. The revelation fundamentally changes everything Allyra thought she understood about the man she loved, and the monster she is now contractually obliged to live with.
Meanwhile Allyra has no intention of becoming another exhibit in Theaten’s museum of preserved Immoless skulls. Instead she intends to become the first female Immortalis through blood acquisition and battle.
The quest presents an unusual opportunity.
Immortalis cannot steal one another’s blood directly, but they can obtain it through a mortal vessel.
Nicolas immediately recognises the arrangement as a magnificent loophole and, more importantly, a win-win for himself and every one of his lonely fractured selves. He decides that protecting Allyra requires constant supervision. He therefore appoints himself a full-time stalking little dirt goblin.
He follows her everywhere.
He appears without warning.
He has absolutely no concept of boundaries.
Or soap.
While Allyra attempts to save her own life, Nicolas attempts to impress her with circuses, theatres, banquets, zoos and any other event that can be improved by mass slaughter, public spectacle and himself occupying centre stage. Around him the Nicolai bicker constantly over whose turn it is to escort Allyra, rescue Allyra, stalk Allyra, or simply sleep with Allyra.
Each interaction descends into progressively greater deviance.
Completely detached from reality, Nicolas convinces himself that he and Allyra are engaged. Everyone around him repeatedly informs him this is not the case. Nicolas simply concludes they are jealous.
As Allyra approaches the end of her quest, the Siege of Neferaten looms, Lilith’s consumption draws near, and freedom finally seems possible. Her intention is simple. Board her ship, The Sombre, known to Nicolas as The Corax Trollop, sail for the Archipelago of Sihr and pursue her own future.
Nicolas finally realises she might actually leave.
The mask does not simply slip.
It shatters.
What begins as absurd comedy, grotesque romance and increasingly vulgar humour collapses into manipulation, obsession, insanity and extreme horror. Every joke curdles. Every eccentricity reveals itself to have concealed something monstrous.
This is not romance.
It is not horror.
It is pure debauched insanity.
And highly offensive.
